Parts

  1. You can download the files and print them on your own 3D Printer. Find the files in our GitHub repository: https://github.com/BrownDogGadgets/3D-Pr... Find the files in our GitHub repository: https://github.com/BrownDogGadgets/3D-Pr...
  2. For Version 2 we still have the main body and the lock piece but we've added a file to make this a two-color print if you have a multi-color 3D printer. If you don't want to print in two colors just print the body and lock as you normally would...

    • ... but if you want a lock with "BDG" on it load the lock and lettering file into your slicer together and choose two different colors.

    • You'll have the best results if you print the BDG lettering in a darker color, such as black.

  3. Hold the tape roll holder in your hand so you can gently squeeze it using the two tabs on the side. You should be able to slide the tape roll onto the holder. Note the direction of the tape. It should be coming off the roll in an anticlockwise direction. Once the tape is on you can add the lock and slide the tape through the slot in the lock.

    • Finally you can pull back on the tail of the tape sticking out of the lock to "lock" it tight to the spool.

  4. Depending on how well your printer is tuned you should be able to remove the lock by pulling it out of the body of the holder, but if not... use this method.

    • You can swing the lock out of place and then slide the roll of tape around the lock as shown.

    • This allows you to put on and remove a roll without taking off the lock.

    • If you find the locks are always a little too loose or too tight you can scale them up in your slicing software a percent or two when you print it to get a better fit.

  5. While we don't sell the 5 Meter rolls individually, they are included in many of our kits, and come with our Sampler Pack. If you do get our Sampler Pack there's a good chance it will come with a tape roll holder! And if not, you can now print your own.
